Guide to charge your VSETT electric scooter

Guide to charge your VSETT electric scooter

Congratulations! You've finally opened the box of your new VSETT and now your questioning what's the best way to charge it? Here's a quick guide with some frequently asked questions and some best practice tips so you can get the most out of your ride.

Your new VSETT

1. When should I charge my VSETT scooter?

It is best to charge your VSETT before its first ride however it is not essential and only necessary for the VSETT MINI.

The best practice is to top up the battery's charge before each ride. Charging after a ride is fine too however if the ride was long or the scooter was used aggressively, you must wait at least 30 minutes for the scooter to cool down before putting it on charge.

2. How do I charge my VSETT e-scooter?

First make sure that the scooter is turned off. Then plug the charger into the mains BEFORE plugging in your electric scooter: you will notice that the indicator light turns red while charging. The battery is then fully charged when the light turns green.

3. How do I know when my electric scooter is charged?

Your battery should be completely charged when the charger light turns a solid Green. It is also very important to turn off and unplug once it has finished charging.

4. How long do I need to charge my VSETT scooter?

All VSETT models have varying recommended charging times so it is always best to refer to the user manual for exact charging times. Charging times are indicated in the specifications tab on vsett.com.au for each VSETT model and can also be found in your information booklet. It is also important not to leave your scooter charging overnight or for longer than the recommended period as this can cause the battery to overheat.

5. Can I use another charger if I have lost my VSETT one?

The short answer is no. We recommend only using the specific charger you received in the box with your VSETT. This is for obvious reasons such as the charger not fitting correctly, the charger not being the correct voltage and the fact that different brands have different configurations etc. If you are unsure of your charger, please contact our friendly staff info@vsett.com.au who can assist further.

6. Should I use the battery until its drained before I recharge?

No. We recommend to always have at least 2/3rds of a battery charge, preferably full charge when your scooter is not being used. Once a battery is completely drained give it a full charge. If your scooter is not being used we recommend to check the battery voltage every 4 weeks to ensure its lifespan doesn't drop... but not many VSETT customers have this problem where their scooter sits there and doesn't get used :).

Charging your VSETT
When choosing a scooter it is very important to buy a recognised brand and also ask what brand of battery it has too. Quality scooters use the more common branded batteries eg. Samsung, Panasonic etc. Scooters with these batteries tend to perform better and you will get a better battery life too. With more and more e-scooter brands entering the market it is becoming increasingly important to be aware about what you're purchasing as cheaper e-scooters may be saving money initially but will end up costing more in the future.

Lastly, we all know sometimes we don’t really pay much attention to the Australian tick of approval on the items we buy... but let us tell you with e-scooters and batteries you should! Australia has a lot of protocols in place so if it has no tick, it’s a no buy!
